Families Helping Families in Crisis

Baptist Children's Home is pleased to be the Northern Indiana implementer for Safe Families for Children™ (SFFC). SFFC provides a loving sanctuary where parents can safely and voluntarily place their children in times of need.

Safe Families for Children is NOT Foster Care or Adoption

Safe Families for Children is an alternative to foster care. In foster care, children are placed into homes through the courts and foster families receive compensation for their care.

Through SFFC, host families receive no compensation for caring for children, and parents voluntarily place their children with them.

Safe Families creates an extended family

This temporary care for children in need gives parents time to establish stability in their homes. Host families care for children whose families are in crisis. These crises can include:

  • Sudden unemployment
  • Homelessness
  • Delivery or other hospitalization
  • In-patient treatment
  • Parent incarceration
  • Isolation & feeling overwhelmed

The goal of the SFFC ministry is to offer support in a time of need and reunite children with their families in a stronger home environment.

Safe Families partners with host agencies, local churches, ministries, as well as community and government agencies to help children and families that would otherwise be forgotten.
