Meet Brian and Stephanie Karlik!
Greetings from the Karlik Family!
Brian and Stephanie Karlik serve as houseparents in the Elkhart Group Home and love the ministry of discipleship and being part of a local group of believers. Before coming to Baptist Children's Home, they served in various pastoral ministries in Wisconsin and Illinois as well as overseas missions in Estonia and Cameroon. Brian grew up in southern Oregon and came to know Jesus while serving in the United States Air Force. Stephanie grew up in Irian Jaya, Indonesia as a missionary kid. She decided to follow Jesus when she was seven years old. Brian and Stephanie met while attending Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, IL. Brian earned his bachelor's degree in pastoral studies and also holds a masters degree in religion from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. Stephanie is a Christian education major, and has spent time homeschooling, working as a librarian, and has devoted many hours to children's ministry over the years.
When they have a few moments of time to themselves, they can be found riding their 1982 Goldwing, fixing up their South Bend bungalow, or traveling to see their children, the closer to the Oregon coast the better, but any beach will do in a pinch.
They have four children and have been happily married for 25 years. Lissy and Eric, their oldest daughter and son-in-law, live in Portland, OR. Sarah is completing college in Tennessee. Nathan serves in the United States Air Force.
And their youngest daughter, Grace, is thirteen. Grace attends school in Elkhart, loves to read and enjoys her riding time each week. Horses equal heaven in her world. She has been an amazing asset to our family's ministry as she shares her parents, her life, and her home.
