God blessed us with a beautiful day for our 35th Annual Bike-a-thon! It is always a joy to see the children stretch themselves to complete the course. Kathy and I were privileged to ride in four bike-a-thons this year. Thank you again for helping to make these events and this compassion ministry possible.

What started out as a wet, dreary day, ended up being a great day for a bike ride. When I arrived at the church on the Saturday morning of our Michigan bike-a-thon, I stepped out of my vehicle into a downpour that did not let up while I unhitched the trailer from my van. Thankfully, all those who planned to join us did not allow the early morning rain to keep them from taking part in the Bike-a-thon. By the time the first riders hit the trail, the rain had subsided and all were able to enjoy a much cooler day than we have experience in years past. Forty-three riders and nineteen volunteers came to support the ministry and enjoy the day.
Leah, a former BCH resident during her teen years, brought her husband to help as a crossing guard. She and her children rode the 25 miles. She shared with others how she began riding in the event when she was eight years old and reminisced/lamented about the 50 miles we rode back in those days!
Our staff and young people were blessed by all who came to help out and to ride in the event. Thank you to all who sponsored riders, raised sponsors, and joined us for the ride. Many thanks to all the volunteers who made the event possible.

We had a great Ohio BCH ride on July 25. The Lord blessed us with great weather. It was nice to have Bill and Kathy Brittain with us for our ride and on Sunday to present the BCH ministry to the congregation.
The ride started from the New Testament Baptist Church in Ravenna. We traveled the Portage Hike and Bike trail to the waterfall along the Cuyahoga River in downtown Kent. We had our water and fruit turnaround break at the waterfalls. The ride back seemed to go fast because all of us knew there was great food waiting for us in the fellowship hall at the church.

Bill and I rode in 4 of the 5 BCH Bike-a-thons this year. Our final ride was on Labor Day at the ride hosted by Berean Baptist Church in Davenport, IA. Pastor Mark Baker is one of our dedicated board members. He and his wife Arleta organize an annual ride for BCH.
We had a beautiful day for the ride, The path was a leisurely trek under the shade of many trees. Twenty-two of us walked or rode. The ride went by so quickly with the beautiful scenery and interesting conversation.
After riding we enjoyed a pot luck lunch and then spent the day playing outdoor games and visiting with old and new friends. Thanks for a great day, Berean friends!
