Baptist Children's Home's ministry in Liberia began in 2001
after BCH President, Jim Geurink, visited Liberia in response to a former missionary.
Jeff and Helena Zeon, spiritual offspring
of BMM missionaries, care for 50+ children in Jahzjet Orphanage. These are
incredibly busy, dedicated people. In 2008, a feeding program
began in Bassa resulting in foster homes caring for 32 children.
Through this endeavor, people are being saved and baptized. More than 100 people are in a church plant. A new foster home in Margibi was
dedicated.
Peter Flomo leads the Abandoned Child
Care Foundation (ACCF) ministry of a fellowship of churches. Foster parent
teams of 60 couples provide daily care for more than 300 children.
Peter’s team has also launched child care
ministry into Lofa County. Our initial efforts in Lofa
reached 50 children and the evangelistic efforts by the national team resulted
in the salvation of 15 people. A BCH child care home, as well as a multipurpose
school/church building, have been built to reach many more with the gospel.
Our VBS '08 project was a Jungle Jeep.
Through the generous gifts to help purchase a vehicle, the Jungle Jeep arrived
in Liberia in December '08 and is being used to help care for over 300
children.
